CEEP Announces Addition of Two New Members to Board of Directors
Campus Election Engagement Project (CEEP) is excited to announce the addition of two new members to our Board of Directors.
Nannette Bailey served as the Community Partnerships Coordinator at Virginia Commonwealth University for over eight years, during which she facilitated the development of student leaders through community engagement. Now, Bailey works in the Office of Engagement at Richmond Public Schools, where she engages students and their families in finding guidance-based solutions to the issues they face. Among other endeavors, Bailey is working on a project to have college students register high school students to vote.
Magdaleno (“Leno”) Rose-Avila has held positions at the Cesar Chavez Foundation, Amnesty International and the U.S. Department of Labor. As part of his work with Cesar Chavez, Rose-Avila ran a statewide voter registration drive in 1972. Rose-Avila is also the founder of Homies Unidos in Los Angeles and El Salvador, where former gang members empower current members to understand nonviolence and conflict resolution. Rose-Avila also ran Seattle’s Office of Refugee and Immigrant Affairs and was named Distinguished Citizen of the Year by Seattle’s Human Rights Commission.
Bailey and Rose-Avila join Elizabeth Ricci, Andy Jacobs, Dick Kinsley and Paul Loeb, who invited Bailey and Rose-Avila to join the Board and look forward to working together to continue to strengthen the organization. Bailey and Rose-Avila join CEEP at an exciting moment, as we are in the process of hiring a CEO to lead the organization.
Campus Election Engagement Project (CEEP) is a national nonpartisan project that helps administrators, faculty, staff and student leaders at America’s institutions of higher education engage students in federal, state and local elections. CEEP views voting as a means to promote a more equitable and inclusive democracy and to address past and present disenfranchisement.
