Joe Sawma is an international student from Lebanon and is the first in his family to pursue a college degree. He attends Adelphi University on Long Island in New York. He is part of the Levermore Global Scholars Program which is a unique program at his school concerned with global problem solving and civic engagement. Joe is also representing his college this academic year in Boston as their Newman Civic Fellow winner. He is very excited to join the Civic Influencers team so he could share his perspective on how to tackle societal issues on an individual level.
